Girly Girl

17 months and counting ...

Health
I now weigh 9.1 kgs and measure 80 cms.
My 4th front bottom tooth has finally cut through bringing my total number of teeth to an even 12. I think the next teeth to come are my incisors but I'll keep you posted! I mentioned last month that I might have slight eczema on the two middle fingers that I'm always sucking but that's all disappeared again so all is well. I've become quite accident prone in the last couple of days: I got my first bruise last week on my cheek and I tasted blood for the first time too when I bit my lip falling down! Two nights ago I put the lid of the Johnsson baby oil in my mouth but then I started to panic and forgot to breath as it was stuck sideways keeping my mouth more open than it should be. Maman couldn't get it out and both she and I got very scared until she eventually yanked it out and we had a really tight squeezed hug for a long time until I'd calmed down and stopped crying. Also this evening I banged my eye against the edge of a shelf in a shop so I now have a small cut beside my eye :-(

Milestones
The biggest change this month is my increased vocabulary. I love trying to repeat as many words as possible. Here is a list of all the words I can now say:

I now definitely understand everything that Maman says to me in French and everything that Papa says to me in English now :-)

My bedtime routine now involves saying goodnight and blowing a kiss to each of the animals on my wall in my room! I lift my arm and say "brrrr" to the elephant, I say "grrrr" to the lion and tiger and the snake gets a schhhhhh from me. The monkey occasionally gets a "ooh ooh" if I remember correctly and the crocodile gets a craaaaack as I reckon that's the sound it makes when he closes his mouth right?!?
"mmmmm" is what I say when I see a cow either in real life or in my books but then I also do it when I see a horse or donkey so I'm still working on that. I say "quack, quack" when Maman asks me what a canard does and I say "miaow" when maman asks me what a chat does but then I also say "miaow" when she asks me what a chien does which is strange because when I see the dogs I then say "oof oof" so Maman reckons I'm not listening correctly and that I'm just hearing the ch sound.

I now sing and hum to myself much to Papa and Maman's amusement! The other day in the car I sang "coucou, coucou" when Granjay & Maman were singing the coucou song to me :-) I have some funky dance moves too! I bop my head up and down and from side to side, then I put my hands up in the air and stamp my feet! When Maman sings "tourne, tourne, petit moulin" I can now do the first three actions of the song.

I've started being a lot more precise with fitting shapes into different slots and carefully putting things into slots and then taking them out again as per the two movies below...

Oh yes and I continue to be obsessed with closing our stair gates if they are open!!!!

Meals
It looks like my appetite has started to grow! I don't want to speak too soon but I've been eating more than I used to for the last few days so watch this space!

Sleep
I'm now doing one nap during the day late in the morning for ca 1 to 1h30 and then sleeping 11 to 11h30 at night. At the weekends I tend to still sleep 2 hours in the morning with an occasional 30 mins extra nap in the afternoon but then everyone knows weekends are for relaxing ;-)

Clothes
I've gradually started to wear some 12-18 month clothes as well as some taille 2 ans clothes :-)

Concentration...

... is all about sticking your tongue out as much as possible!!

Maman's little helper

Maman & I now do the laundry together. I put the clothes in the machine and close the door and then Maman puts the powder in and turns the machine on :-)

I'm a mini Maman

Apparently Maman used to play with older boys when she was a toddler and so she thought it was really funny to see me playing with Robin and his friends at church a couple of Sundays ago ...

I love my books

Papa kindly built me a small bookcase for my bedroom. I love it as it means I can get to my books and sit on my rug and read them to myself :-) I still need to work on tidying them all away again afterwards tho!!!
